I would never wear fur and only wear faux, after I have confirmed where the material has come from. I went into a shop last year and the shop assistant agressively and loudly shouted "I hope that isnt a real fur coat". I was really annoyed by this and came back with "yes it is, thousands of nylons had to die to make it". Did he have any right to do this?

Absolutely not.

You could take it up with his manager.
I wouldn't have been so polite.
No and I'd 've complained to the store manager
With the larger numbers of Eastern Europeans living in the uk it is likely fur coats will be seen more often... so while trying to educate people is a good thing the outright aggression shown by some needs to be challenged too.
Last year and you're still upset about it? Perhaps you need to get out more.
Yes... it's rude for anyone to aggressively ask you something like that!
You do have a point Jan...lol
any right? i suppose hes entitled to say whatever he likes unless his employers have requested otherwise when hes at work.
Remind him of that old saying, that as a customer you pay his wages!
and No, he had no right.
What's the problem? I'd be happy that he was defending animals used in the vile fur trade. He obviously cares and if it had been me I would have just laughed it off with him.
Ah two questions. Yes for the first one, no for the second.

You may need to consider whether that is the type of shop that deserves your custom.
No not at all, I would have asked to speak to the manager if it was me.

Well sorry about that Jan, I'll try to be more current in future. Plus, havent really been out to the shops in a year, too ill.
yes it's rude but yes he has a right, he's still a person with his own views and he obviously holds strong ones towards the fur trade.
were you in a fake fur coat shop at the time?
anyway he didnt demand to know if it was real or fake. He said he hoped it wasnt real.
Yes-he has a right to express his views...but not in the shop. When he's there-he represents the company he is working for. His views belong outside.
Good on the shop assistant!

Still, like Jan, im more concerned that you're still fretting about it a year later.
Fur fakes sake!
Lets not have any fur flying here this afternoon......
No need to apologise CS, I just think a year is a long time to fret over something like that and perhaps it is time to move on.
