Absolutely not. Must be screwed to wall with appropriate fittings.

6mm Masonry drill on slow speed into the tiles, then a red rawlplug :o)

I can't drill into the wall as there's pipes and wires behind it :-( oh i don;t think this project is gonna work out is it

Go to your local DIY store and get one of these:
http://www.wickes.co....detector/invt/710290/ then don't drill any holes where wires and pipes are detected! |

i did get on of those from wilkinson's and it bleeped the whole time i moved it across the wall, do you think i i get a more expensive one it will tell me exactly where the wires are?

Sounds like it's either too sensitive, faulty or your wall is full of wires/pipes. Before buying a new one, try the old one somewhere else, such as the kitchen, where you should be able to follow the wires and pipes to your taps and plug sockets.
