How do you know this?

I've tried them in the past and found them to be a lot of hassle and not very effective.
I would if i had a open fire or wood burner.
It would cost me more to build the fireplace to use them in.
Ah, OK...

Just looked at your profile, it was your last question...

Well, that's my answer up there ^ a lot of hassle and mess to make them and they don't really work that well.

well chuck thats another bright idea into the recycle bin, thanks for the advice.
My Father spent months making them during one summer some years ago, then managed to use the whole lot within about a week, he wasn't pleased!
We tried it last year - didn't work

Mind you we don't have a fireplace.
lol rojash

that's really tickled me
Question Author
lol rojash mind boggles to think what you did with them
Newspapers .... <puzzled> .... old newspapers ... <lightbulb goes on> Ah that was what they had before the Internet wasn't it !

Yeah my mum used to do something similar too, but created hand made 'sticks' rather than machine made bricketts.

Er, how did that happen? Sorry!
One issue is that one has to dry the brickette right out. Need some decent sunshine to do that - which rules out any such useful production north of about Paris.
we tried it for the chiminea in the summer, it was a load of faff and didn't work very well, the briquette maker wasn't that efficient - and a) we haven't got a fireplace in the house and b) I only buy about 4 newspapers every week.
I would if I bought newspapers. They have now got so expensive a single brickett can't be cheap to make! It's probably just as economical to burn regular fuel or wood.
So thats why they call the newspaper industry, "The Press."

You learn something every day.
If one reads the bark of the logs in place of the Daily Mail, it not only saves the hassle of brickette production but the information on the log bark is a trifle more believable than the DM.
The crossword's not so good, though, BM.
