Painting a large area of concrete block walls

I would like to paint the inside of a shed to tidy it up a bit. I just need to do a quick, cheap and cheerful job. What is the best way to do it?
I have seen those paint sprayers advertised and wondered if they would be the right thing to use because I think it would take to long to do with a brush or roller. Plus I don't think I would go through as much paint.

All ideas gratefully received.

Thanks.

Shivvy - can you estimate how many Sq metres (or feet) you need to cover? - what is floor made of?
Question Author
Hi Tony. The floor is concrete and the room is approx 20ft x 30ft.
sorry shivvy - meant to ask, what are you painting Wood, brick or wood? And you want it white I assume - do you need to do ceilling as well?
''what are you painting Wood, brick or wood?''

Tony... concrete block walls and the floor is concrete!

lol snags!

Don't need to do the roof Tony. Can you suggest what would be my best option?
Shivvy - some masonary paint with roller, with dust sheets on floor. Not worth buying/ hiring a sprayer. Your will need to brush down walls and seal before you start with finish coat. Not a cheap and chearful option, but will last. If you do want a cheap white finish - use trade emulusion, thin first coat by 20 - 50% to seal, then overcoat with neat paint till it's white enough and not showing patches.
Shivvy... B&Q are currently doing a cheap 'value' white emulsion if you decide to go with Tony's second option...

I guess it's fair-faced (unplastered) blockwork Shivvy. A 12-inch roller on a pole would be the quickest. Spraying would mean a whole lot of masking-up, and ........ rening a sprayer......... maybe use this..........

It could be getting knocked down next year Tony so as cheap and easy as possible is what I'm after.
Go with Snags' paint then Shiv................ don't think I've ever seen paint so cheap :o)))))
Or even cheaper... leave it as it is then and just remove the light bulb ;-p
Question Author
That paint from B&Q sounds like a good plan and I'm sure they do 12 inch rollers too - thanks snags.
What do you mean by 20 - 50% Tony?
Yes, it's unplastered Mr Builder so how much paint approx do you think I would need to buy?
Tony means up to 50% water added for the first mist coat. Then one neat coat will do you. (This might alter with "shed" paints. They are often very thin to start with.)
Shivvy - in trade it's called a misting coat - this will seal wall, will probably say on paint pot how much to thin it down - follow recommendations for painting new plaster
Quantity depends on how well the first coat goes (suction etc). Maybe 40-50 litres?

Brilliant - thanks for all your help guys.

No prizes for guessing how I will be spending this weekend!!
What you doing after Saturday morning then?
Question Author
You are really funny - not!!

Thanks for all your help.
Builder - Sounds a lot but I would have guessed 50 litres (5 tubs)
Shivvy cheap paint is like cheap anything - you get what you pay for and you will not enjoy finished product.
You could try this

not the best but certainly better than a "shed" own brand paint.
just depends how cheap you want to go?
