Stamp collection website

My grandfathers stamp collection which has been given to me contains some very old British stamps dating from 1920s onwards. is there a good website that contains pictures of old stamps which i could use as a reference. How else could i value the stamps or guage their rarity.

If you have a 1d (penny) black from about 1840 it is worthless, so please pop it in an envlope and post it to me!
