I am looking to knock through 2 structural walls and take out the stair case and replace with a wooden framed stair way. What are the initial steps I have to take to see if it is possible?

How will you take steps if you don't have a staircase?
LOL @ Jan
Couldn't resist :-)
Consult a good builder or a structural engineer I would imagine, this is a question for buildersmate really, I'm sure he will turn up.
Sounds a good plan Oldy .................... there's an old saying in this job .......... ANYTHING's possible if you have the money :o)
Do use Building Control, or there'll be all kinds of legal problems later.
Ask for a form for a Building Notice. No plans needed then, but they'll ask for structural calculations. You'll need a Structural Engineer. He'll say something like ...... replace the two walls with steel beams, and give you the sizes etc.
There are also a few slightly tiresome rules about stairs and headroom etc. Mostly common sense though.
Go for it ..............
