Painting a fabric interior ceiling of a van

I have converted a combi van into a camper, but the ceiling is grey and scruffy. It seems like a lot of hard work to recover, so I wondered about painting/dyeing it.

Any suggestions please re paints/dyes, and methods of application welcome.

I'm thinking of doing it blue (and maybe adding stars like a night sky).
