Flys on Yukka Tree

I have a Yukka & repotted it about 2 months ago. Since then I`ve noticed a lot of tiny flies around it & in the compost. Does anyone know how I can get rid of them & why they are attracted to the plant please? Also how can I tell if it`s an outdoor or indoor Yukka. I bought it at an outdoor market a few years ago & have always kept it inside.
