Clematis Montana
or the original Macropetala, if you want more of an alpine foliage and flower.
None of the modern large-flowered hybrids are particularly fast or dense.
Montana is very free and fast growing but only blooms once in late Spring, most are coming to the end of flowering now. The macropetalas as AlBags suggests are repeat flowering (at least my neighbour's is)
To elaborate, the standard form Macro has a rather dull bluey flower. It is possible to buy white or pink. They are much more attractive.
I would recommend Clematis Tangutica. It flowers quite late in the summer and is different from the usual clematis in as much as they are yellow 'lantern' shaped ones. You also get the added bonus of what can only be described as fluffy seed heads throughout the autumn. If you want to know what's flowering now visit your local garden centre and see what's in bloom. One thing to remember "If it flower's before June, don't prune" So if you want it to cover an old shed or unsightly wall you need to purchase one that's just finishing flowering otherwise all summer bloomers need to be cut hard back. Also, keep their heads in the sun and roots in the shade and water well. Good luck in finding what you want. Mrs. N.

Thank you! I have been looking on Taylors Climatis website for all the one that have been recommended! I am after one that will grow (fast) up an old tree thats at the bottom of the garden which is partly in the shade, Gipsy Queen seems quite a nice one and Mrs N Thompson?
