Black Current Bushes

Hi

I planted on some black current seedlings which I collected from the bottom of our black current bush, last year, and they have grown wonderfully.

However, I was wondering if they will be true black current bushes, or is Glen Sarik - the species I have, a grafted bush.?

Is their a graft visible on plant base - if not then it's not grafted. It may be a hybrid though unlikely.

Most gardening magazines recommend sticking prunings taken from blackcurrant bushes as the main way of propagating new bushes so I'm not sure whether your little plants will produce identical fruit. However, to most people "a blackcurrant is a blackcurrant" and I can't imagine that when your young bushes produce fruit they will taste very different. Prepare for a slightly long weight though. It could be two or three years before they produce a sizeable crop.
