I have a chinese maple with a hole at the base of the trunk the size of a softball. Huge mushrooms grow out of it and it collects water. I think the tree is sick. Some of the branches are drying out. It still blooms its leaves on the others. Can I do anything to patch the hole and save the tree? Or is it too late?
