I've just come back from buying a new double doorFridge/freezer and a new dryer. Gumph........swallow hard !
My surprise was that apparently the main manufacturers don't make dryers that evacuate the steam anymore, only condensers. I could have got one but the model was 4 years old, so opted for a new model Bosch which is a condenser. The sales girl said it is because they are more economical to run, is she bull........ me or is that so ?

Wow, samura, have you won the lottery?
the rating should give you some idea. i would be surprised if bosch is less than A. My Beko condenser with all the bells and whistles is A++ which means it is 30% better than A. (and it was far cheaper than the name brands). ps I do find sales people do not always know what they are talking about.
fibsicles i am afraid

but I have got a condenser and I do prefer it
They should be more economical to run because the condenser unit removes much of the heat in the moist air being extracted, transferring it to the input air, thus warming it. This in turn reduces the amount of heat required by an electrical element.
Hence the typical ability to achieve a A+ rating.

Interesting Woofgang. Seems like she saw me coming. Anyway, it's a condenser. I used to have a condenser years ago, but it used to make my kitchen very hoy when it was drying and dusty. And if memory serves me right, it didn't dry very well. I suppose they have improved since then.
