My washer has given up the ghost. Nice local repair man has told me given how much it would cost to repair I'd be better off buying a new one.

Any recommendations please?

I think they are all much the same nowadays unless you go for top of the range.

I had a repair man out last week and he said they don't make them like they used to. The paddle inside the drum snapped off mine. He said whereas once they used to be moulded in they are now clipped in.
The best washers are made by Miele....but are very expensive.
The cheapest Best Buy (latest Which?) is Hotpoint WMFG6631P at £275.
I bought a John Lewis own make & it came with a 5yr guarantee. It cost about £300-00.
Have a look on AO - they're service is excellent.
Their ^
I would recommend AO too.

Their delivery service is fantastic, and the prices are really good.

I've just replaced my washing machine with a Bosch. I like the quality and they do seem to last a bit longer than most.

It's sad, but gone are the days when you bought a bit of equipment like a fridge, washing machine or even a car and it lasted for 20 years!

I'm looking at Bosch machines at the mo but the reviews show grumbles about the spin programme........
I bought one with a top spin of 1400 and it's fine for me.

And I got one with £50 cashback too.

AO are brilliant, another vote from me for them.
As for washing machines, I like Zanussi.
i've got a cheap and cheerful beko, it washes my clothes

job done

i wanted it to be a transformer and grow legs when the cycle was done so it could go and hang the washing out, but that's asking to much apparently :-(
I have a beko as well, decent machine, very underrated
Fluff, if you could get one that also paired socks I'd pay a bit over the odds for one!
Eccles, my machine eats socks, does that count?
just buy socks in one colour & style
what ghost did the machine give up?
I think Mr Cake would object to wearing pink socks covered in hearts with his formal suits ;-)
I too have a Beko which I bought online, it was on sale £120 off, free delivery and fitting and take away old machine. Good washer.
i think he would look lovely

knee length stripey ones would be better

i managed one grey and one navy sock for the gym this morning, they know im a bit special there now
