We have this bush in the garden .When it comes into bloom it looks glorious and it's just starting now .However I have no idea what it is . It was here when we moved in nearly nine years ago .
Any offers ?

Good morning biddies. I bought a slow cooker yesterday so had better get on and use it. Tips please, as I didn't get on with the last one I had, as I tried a beef stew on low and it wasn't really done after 6 hours! But I suddenly decided I wanted one. Last one cost £17 (morphy richards) this one cost €40 and is a Russell Hobbs. Nice and sunny here but is still a wee bit too hot for me although nothing like this summer was. Still rather humid.
Hope you are all up to scratch, it's lovely being able to sleep again without worrying about hija.
Help for the life of me I cannot seem to make a shortcut for this thread. Am on samsung galaxy tab A.
It's OK I've Googled and faffed and found how, not easy on a samsung!
Morning bushbiddies....very chilly, breezy and bright. I'm trying to psych myself up to shop.

I can't stop laughing at your post shaney...I'll send a link to my sis, it can be their project for next year :)

Tut neti, we're in the garden and you still manage to steer us into technology. Let's compromise...present for you....

Hello all
ducks the flying pots
Lovely sunny day but only a real feel of 11C with the chilly wind.
I use my slow cooker a lot in the winter Neti .I leave a beef stew to sozzle all day on low and then add dumplings about half an hour before I dish up.Never had any fails with a slow cooker and have been using one nearly all my married life as one house we lived in whilst abroad didn't have an oven.
Hope you're all ok .
Aha shaney but how early do you put it on. Says if I want to eat at 6pm start it at 8am, well excuse me!, if I use skirt of beef in 1" cubes plus veg how long will it take. Mine says I can use it on high as a stew pot. No way will mine be started until 1ish. Am doing a chilli sauce in it, but that doesn't really take long in a saucepan anyway. Now I remember why I wasn't so imressed with the last one.

Lol Neti ..it's a slow cooker not a fast cooker ...
To eat at around six I would put mine on about 10 in the morning .I brown the meat first ,shove it in the pot along with all the veg .I usually put carrots, mushrooms, peppers (green and red )celery, whole shallots ,dollop of tom puree and then beef stock.I use an Oxo cube .Frowned upon by the foodies but who gives a t::: what they think.
I stick it on high for an hour then turn it down to low. When I used to go to work I used to prepare it the night before ,put it in the fridge and switch it on first thing in the morning .
I cook joints of meat in mine too, only beef and lamb though not pork as I like crackling.Chicken is OK too but you don't get a crispy skin .
The meat will fall off the bones though and is nice for sarnies ,salads or stir fries. Then you can put the carcass back in the pot and make stock from it.
I use it to make a big pot of chilli or ragu and then freeze it in portions .The beauty of it is ,is that you can just leave it to cook and go and do something else ,no keeping an eye on it or constantly stirring stuff.
Ah, thank you, I do keep going to look and stir mine! So if you do joints of meat, do you have to add stock or oil. My chilli is done so it is on "keep warm" hope that doesn't dry out.
Are we in food & drink now? Just as long as we don't do politics or religion...

It was a tad milder when I went to the shops but the sun disappeared and it's been dull and windy.

Where's woofy? I'm wondering whether the carrier pigeon made it. Neti can you send her a pm on fb pls? ty :)

No Neti ..I just put the meat in and leave it.I usually cook a joint of brisket and it'll come out melt in the mouth .As it cooks it makes it's own gravy which I then thicken. I cook a big joint 'cos then when we've eaten what we want I let it go cold then slice it up and freeze it for more dinners.
It's very parky here with that east wind.

If you can't get on with it you could always plant it up with some pretty flowers and put it in the garden ....runs away laughing
bungs another very heavy pot down shaney's way!!
The chilli sauce was so much better for being fast/slow/fast/kept warm. Much nicerthwn I usually make. Well please. Will try a stew soon.
Yes I'll fb woofy now Robi.
Woofy is fine!
I have been posting away on the old thread and wondering why no one answered! I did get the email but have been hitting the pain relief and immediately forgot about the move.
Since I stopped taking vitamin pills I don't get anymore of those awful spots such a relief.
Morning, dull and chilly. Will we get the tail end of hurricane Matthew in a week or two? All those people leaving, it's chaos.
I've got hurricane bro-in-law approaching, he's coming to do a couple of diy jobs for me. It's a case of get everything ready, kettle on, choc biscuits open and stand back and watch him go.

Sorry you're struggling woofy, take it easy.

Morning all
Dull and chilly ,few black clouds hovering about .
Yes awful with hurricane. We should never moan our weather really when you see that.Poor people haven't got much to start with let alone losing it all .
I'm off to a farm shop shortly with my brother and niece then lunch .It'll be one of those mystery tours into the back of beyond knowing him.
Hope you're all ok .Hope you feel better Woofy .
good morning all, back is much much better today thank you. I am on an enforced do nothing day today as mrs next door is getting the adjoining fence replaced. The dogs are fine provided I sit around with them and that suits me too. Tomorrow the car goes off for service and by saturday i should be fully fit. pain and boredom make me bad tempered and the painkillers make me forget stuff so for the safety of the world I am better sequestered :)
Morning all. Yay my car passed it's MOT with no trouble. So pleased.
Got raging toothache, will get some oil of cloves tomorrow.
