I have a magnolia in it's second season and is just breaking into leaf. However- during the first season it was an accident victim- the wind blew down our gazebo and broke the main stem at a branch- which is all that's left.....the branch. Will it recover from this or should I think about replacement? (Not grown one before- it is in a large container which is crumbling now)

It might not be the most shapely magnolia ever but if its breaking into leaf it should grow.
Can you strap the container till the end of the season?

Thanks guys- I hadn't thought about 'strapping' -It IS in a pretty bad way...pieces falling off the sides!
Can't you put it into the ground....they have a tap root that would need to grow deep to support the tree.

Thanks tamborine- I'll probably do that....
