Have you thought about sanding down and starting afresh JC?

i have thought of it but i don't think its in that bad condition (im probably just being lazy) i was hoping for a quick fix :)
Hi jaycee401, as The Builder says if you want to revamp the boards you really need to sand them down first otherwise all you can really do is put a shine on them. To change the look of them any other way they need the old finish taken off unless you put a darker finish on them. Before you could do that though you would still need to give them at least a light sanding to form a key for the new finish. Remember the finish will only look good if the preparation is done properly.
