Lakeland used to sell a simple tea towel holder consisting of a strip of white plastic, each end having a male/female fitting, and you simply pushed the male fitting through the edge of the towel, attached the female end to the male end and, voila, the tea towel had a plastic loop attached to it which could be used to hang the towel on a hook. Lakeland no longer sell this simple item and are unwilling to help me find the manufacturer. Can anyone help ?

Know exactly what you mean, still using mine from many years ago. Can't get replacements but have found an alternative type of cotton loop from Kleeneze catalogue that works just as well as the plastic ones.
