rhubarb????

Hi everyone,
Can anyone advise me on harvesting rhubarb,
Does one pull it by the roots,
or cut it close to the ground, or what ?????
any advice appreciated.

I think you are suppose to cut it or break the stems off the root carefully. To avoid damaging or infecting the roots.

Just grab the top of the stalk and pull trim off the leaves and the white bit at the bottom If you wipe the stalks and cut them into chunks they freeze really well

Hi raymond,
The secret of harvesting rhubarb is to grip the stem firmly near the base and give it a twist as you pull, this will give it a nice clean break.
If you just cut them or snap them off your plants may be susceptable to fungal diseases and obviously you will want to leave the roots intact ready for next years crop. Good Luck Tbird+
