Yale type key broken in lock

I stupidly tired to straighten a key while it was in the barrel (locked); it broke.

I have tried to pull it out with thin nosed pliers but there is not much purchase. Short of drilling the barrel, any ideas?

Thanks, Andrew.

try squirting some wd 40 in then have a go with some tweezers hope it works good luck
could u superglue the bit you have onto the bit in the lock? I did that once with a bike ignition key and it pulled out ok. Works best if the lock is quite worn and therefore not too tight. Be sure to put the glue on your bit of key, not the bit in the lock, or you risk gluing that bit in place!
try blu tac first wedge it in and then pull it try this before the superglue else you might have problem

Change the lock.

If you are not locked out and can remove the barrel part then you might be able to tap it against something and get the key stub to move out enough to get a better grip of it, especially if you have lubricated it first.

Hi and thanks for all the suggestions.

I applied WD40 and on the tweezer recommendation also tried a small screw driver (as narrow as the top of the key and rusty for grip) and a small crocodile clip.

Pushing down on the top of the key while pulling out got some purchase on the key which the crocodile clip held.

Cheers, Andrew.
