I use cotton wool pads soaked in white vinegar attached to the tap with an elastic band.
the stuff that dissolves limescale in loos, the thick stuff. it gets in nooks and crannies, clings to vertical surfaces and is cheap as chips. put a thin layer on, a paintbrush is useful, wait till it stops fizzing rinse and wipe offf and repeat till its all gone....I am a bit confused though as my limescale is white not black....could it be the fabric of the tap breaking down or fungus/mould?
Tie a little bag of white vinegar around the tap

Thanks for the 'little bag ' tips
The Black comes from corrosion I think ( not sure) as is only there now and again, the water flow is still perfect
if its corrosion and not limescale, its newe tap time Bobbi
...and corrosion around the end of the tap will be made worse by using any sort of acidic descaling solution...
