I have bought a rather nice writing slope on ebay, however the lock doesn't work at all. Its quite easy to remove though and in fact I suspect that its not the original one anyway. I've hunted around but the only supplier of replacements I could find is in america and the p and p is huge.

Does anyone know of a UK supplier of writing slope (wooden box) locks please? Either new or old but they must work and come with a key.

Welcome to neti's blog. All alone am I.
Expect rubbish spelling, gobbledegook and strange names for the next few days as am on the demon mobile!
By 'eck it's getting jolly chilly here in the evenings, thick socks and indoor scarf time has arrived. Will hunt out the thicker duvet tomorrow.

Not alone Neti, have been pottering here. The dogs want to be out hunting monsters in the garden but need me as an escort in case it turns out that there really is a monster out there!
Hi woofy are you having nasty winds there. My friends say it is terrible in Shropshire and a bit blowy in London. So calm and peaceful here.
Well, am off to jolly old bed. Just see River. Loved it.
Ought oight all
very windy here; I went out the back door as OH came in the front door so the wind hurtled through and slammed both of them.
It's been horrendous here and a friend's sister in a village not a million miles away has no electricity. Every time I think it's calmed down it starts again. I hate it.
It's awful .Roaring out there .No good going to bed yet.
I'll just lay there in a tither getting agimitated .

its dying down here I think, its supposed to be over by 2am.
Good morning buddies. DI'd you all survive the night? I had a couple of disturbances with the cat. Mr N had disappeared into hija's room. Mousey shouts to go out and when I get up and open the front door she then decides she doesn't want too. All''s then quiet for an hour and then she shouts again and is then 'helped' out by me. Fed up with it. Can't have a cat flat as too many feral's poking about.
Morning...I haven't surveyed the grounds, I'm not showered/dressed yet. I hope you're all ok and there's no damage for any of us. I did feel a bit scared now and then but thankfully it calmed down about half past midnight.
The only thing concerning me is the disappearance of several tissues I'd tucked under my pillow...they must have gone to the same place as my voice.

yes, we are here and all intact so far. It was a short and noisy night though.
Poor things. Meanwhile on the white isle it is sunny and warmish 19°.
Nice and sunny but not at all warmish .Still pretty blowy out there but not as bad as last night .No damage here thank goodness but trees down round the area and powercuts.
The boiler man came and replaced a valve in the boiler so it's all systems go again unlike me. My valves are bloated and griping and all my go has gone .

we all went back to sleep. It was lovely. Now black and windy here again.
I always have to have a tissue under my pillow. Trouble is I never use them but replace them daily and Mr N hates it. There us rather a pike.
went to a Pepys exhibition, very interesting. It even had a kidney stone on display, though it wasn't Pepys's own. He kept it after it was removed and used to hold a party on the anniversary; but it's been lost since, so they used one from another sailor.

In the evening we went to a lecture on the London Guildhall by Simon Thurley. I always thought it was Gothic style but apparentlythe main entrance was actually done in the 1700s in the Indian style, which the East India Company had been bringing back to Britain. Shows how much I know.

.
Evening all. This afto I went to school and it was scything down and blowing really bad but not as bad as last night. Then when I came out the sun was shining. But not for long.
Neti I had to have my computer man round to look at windows 10 because I needed a lesson. He was very helpful and sorted the settings for me he was here 2.1/2 hours and said he only wanted a tenner so I gave him £20.
Shall I send him over :-) Seriously though I feel a lot happier now about it.
Email address sorted too but that I actually did that.
I watched River Neti. I was mystified and confused at the end about who was who and why the murderer did it.

I have to get my Bird table fitted properly as the wind blew it over.
Can't do it tomorrow off to Nottingham to Live at Lunch to see a couple of classical musicians. Not sure who yet but will let you know. Then after it's lunch at Bistro Pierre. We have enough stamps on our card for a 2 for 1 dinner. So looking forward to it.

Just got to tidy up a bit then I'm off to bed. Good night all!
