Gas?
Combi or roof tank?

Gas Combi

change that 5mins to 2 mins
That would be quite a leak to be filling for that long, Groupie. Anyway, combis don't usually fill automatically. You have to be there ;o)

Give me the model number, and I'll look it up.

Ferroli Optimax HE Plus 31 C Thank you
Nothing comes to mind from reading the manual, Groupie. A normal combi.

There should be no direct, permanent connection with the mains water supply. It is connected of course, but only by opening two valves to top up the sealed radiator circuit.
I wonder if there's a chance that these valves are open, or maybe one or other is faulty, and overfilling the system. The pressure read-out would show this up. Excess pressure would then open the pressure relief valve and drain the excess away.
However, that all seems very unlikely.
Modern condensing combis are getting quite complicated. It's quite usual for the installer to refer immediately to the manufacturer for this kind of fault, especially if it's newly installed.
I'm sorry to be of no help, but I think this one ought to be referred to Ferroli.

On second thoughts.......... I was thinking purely of the heating side. Of course there is a mains water connection to the hot water side as well. I wonder if a vale in the hot water system is faulty, and opening up overnight when mains pressure always rises quite considerably (since few people are using it.)
That may be letting water out via a safety valve on the HW side.

Thx very much for answers shall show this to the plumber?? and see what he does
Ferrolli boilers have an option for "instant hot water" setting on the control panel, try having the instruction manual out and read up the bit about "ECO" SETTINGS
