Replacement roof - garden shed

The felt on my shed roof has torn and needs to be replaced. I was thinking about replacing the timber roof first, but with external grade ply (18mm). The existing roof is made of tongue & groove (same as the walls), but I thought that a single sheet would be far easier to install. However, a couple of sheets of external ply would be about £60, and I wonder if there is a cheaper alternative? What about flooring grade (i.e. internal) chipboard, or perhaps that stuff made from glued shavings (don't know what it's called)? Any thoughts?

That stuff made out of glued shavings ( I also forget what it's called ) will be OK, that's what most shed manufacturers use these days.
MDF.

Since typing this question, I notice that B&Q do a 'waterproof treated' T&G chipboard at £9.00 per 2400x600x18mm. A couple of these each side would be enough, but is it good enough for what I want?
Yeah, thats it.
It's the quality of the Felt that is important and how you overlap/glue/tack the joints.
If it's covered with felt Mr-H, then "shuttering ply" or "sterling board" (also known as OSB............ Oriented Strand Board.

Thanks builder; wish you lived near me! OSB - is that 'that stuff made from glued shavings'?

OSB is the right stuff for the roof .. but I would give the covering a second thought if you would like to cover it once and for all.
A decent 10 metre roll of green shingle felt is at least £35, why not have a look at EDPM which has a life expectancy of 50 years or more. It does'nt tear or lift, and goes on in one piece.
It only adds about £40 to the job compared to felt, and from what I have found most people are only to pleased to pay a little extra for the ultimate flat roof covering.
If you can use a roller anybody can fit it. Loads of videos are available showing how easy it is.
........... good idea there from Homer ....................

Blimey, that looks like good stuff, I think I will use that instead of felt next time.
