There are two options, one you push inwards gently and turn, this is what is required for a bayonet fitting, or just turn the Bulb, this is for a screw fitting.

Thanks KJN will have a go, I was afraid of breaking it !

OK how do I get hold of the bulb, it is inside the fitting !
:-)
I had problems with some a few decades ago. Couldn't seem to grip to turn as it was snug inside the lamp holder. But just needed to persevere.

Worst comes to worst one can always switch the power off, protect eyes and such, and break it out. Use pliers to grab and turn the back bit. But I suspect it won't come to that.

Does with my woman's outside light. She's bought cheap & nasty store named bulbs that always blow after next to no time and then when you try to remove the bulb, the glass comes away from the metal bit !
You sure that isn't a sealed dichroic lamp? It clips in .. or bayonet into the housing (the whole glass part)
If it's a screw out bulb, simply obtain some sticky tape... any kind will work, but the ubiquitous duct tape works best. Cut off a piece of tape about 8 to 10 inches long. Turn it inside out (the sticky side is now on the outside) and stick the two ends together in a loop. Now (after performing all the saftey requirements... shut off switch, use good ladder) simply place the tape on the bulb and grasping the tape turn the bulb out. Use the same tape to replace the bulb. Make sure the bulbs are cool.
Alternately find a hardware store (at least that's what we call them here in the U.S.) that handles these: http://www.amazon.com...id=1315955615&sr=8-10 ... works like a charm... (use a little spit on the underside of the suction cup to help it hold...)...
