History & Myths

Ghosts and house history.

Hi, I would like to know where I could find info about previous owners of a house.
I want to know about my mum and dads house it is over 250 years old and I have seen the ghost of an old man there and have heard my name being called from the top of the stairs when no one else is there.
My dad says a man that lived there years ago went drinking and slipped and drowned in a nearby stream on his way home.
Any help appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi swipes
You can check with various maps online at www.old-maps.co.uk, then beyond that it is worth befriending your local studies librarians and viewing all the available material re. your address.
BTW why would someone from the past know your name? Think about your own issues because the human brain is infinitely suggestive.

There is a web site called myoldhouse.com

No guarantees that yours will be on there, but no harm in looking.

erm Hearing your name is you and clearly not the ghost

I would trace the address 1901 back to 1841

and see if there is a link

then back to the parish records but of course there is no guarantee that the house was occupied by the same people

Good Luck

sorry swiper for wasting your time, but as far as ghosts go, you are wasting your own time
