the revivals of the First Great Awakening (Jonathan Edwards) in the eighteenth century showed Protestantism being transformed by the experience of the New World. How was this true? The Second Great Awakening (Finney's revival in Rochester) during the Jacksonian period defined individual and social responsibilities in ways that addressed the problems posed by a radically egalitarian, individualistic, entrepreneurial society. Explain fully how this was true.
