I recently came across the name of this ship in some old diaries, and I can't find any details about it at all - any details would be greatly appreciated! I'm not even sure what "M. M. S. S." stands for.

Cheers :)

Is it definately MMSS? A MMS was a Motor MineSweeper in WW2.

It's definitely written down as M. M. S. S. - this diary I think is from around 1906 anyway :)
An old salt told me it stood for Merchant Marine Steam Ship.
Loyds of London might have it in their shipping register.

Thanks - that's better than most of my misguided guesses!
