Should We Have Recaptured The Falklands?

Many, usually on the left, often denigrate the effort to retake the Falklands from an Argentine military junta. "war for penguins" - "god forsaken rocks" etc so do they think we should simply have ignored the invasion and let the islanders be annexed? Discuss.

Yes we were right to defend the Falklands even if the cost in lost lives and military assets was very steep.
Obviously we are currently a lot more vulnerable now that we were then. Our Navy has been halved and we have lost an aircraft carrier, integral to fighting a distant war.

....and those like him, he's not the only one, I am not just talking about AB I have heard theses comments since 1982 from various sources. 10cs is just and example on here. None of them have ever said what we should have done instead.

It’s about liberating people and territory and upholding international law. Pretty similar situations
