The betrayal of our Polish Allies at Yalta as America helped by Churchill sought to appease the Russians led by 'uncle Joe' the oppression of anyone who held anti communist views.. If that's socialism. No thank you.
Question Author
Thats socialism, rowan. But as Uncle Joe said-"one dead individual is bad,a million dead individuals are the price you have to pay for socialism"...or words to that effect.
I guess you have special cutlery and aren't allowed to drive.

Wrong thread i think dougie.
A true socialist? What a load of rubbish. I think the people who lived under his regime might have had a word for him - but it wasn’t ‘socialist’.
Question Author
Are you trying to tell me that Koba wasnt a true people loving humanitarian socialist,Naomi?
erm are you familiar with all the luxury dachas he and Beria had built? The way his regime not only exploited and tortured and raped and murdered millions as slaves in the worst conditions imaginable? the utter callousness and evil with which he responded to the great famine?

even if you ignore the crimes against humanity the wage system and the labour code he introduced in the USSR was extremely exploitative and cruel… it was illegal to be more than a few minutes late for work and almost impossible to earn enough to live on while Stalin and his cohort lived it up in old palaces!

whatever his beliefs were in writing he wasn’t much of a socialist when it came down to it… he ran the USSR in the way of the cruellest and most tyrannical tsars… i wish he had died much sooner than he did and that he had suffered horribly.
Question Author
But thats socialism for you, untitled.Socialism, true socialism.
that's not true... clem attlee was a socialist and managed not to do a Stalin
Question Author
@18.00.Are you trying to say Koba(the peoples poet and loyal friend and ally of the working class)wasnt a socialist, untitled?
It is claimed that Stalin said, "The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic." or a variation on that theme but there is no evidence that he ever did.

No... I am saying he was a very bad one
// there is no evidence that he ever did. //

if he ever did, it's likely he was quoting a german satirist writing about french humour -
"The war? I cannot find it to be so bad! The death of one man: this is a catastrophe. Hundreds of thousands of deaths: that is a statistic!" Kurt Tucholsky, 1932
Question Author
Also a template for todays left-wing socialists. He was also considered to be an ardent anti-semite,remind you of anyone recently booted out of the Labour Party?
i don’t think there is any “considered” about it lol… Stalin was undoubtedly an horrific anti-semite and went out of his way to do actual material harm to Jews… if he had died a couple of months later then virtually all the jews in soviet medicine would have been killed or enslaved… the stuff that the soviet press was coming out with about jews was some of the nastiest and most racist stuff about them you can possibly read!

there’s no comparison between that and jeremy corbyn having a justified go at israel sorry…
if you think that the modern left is interested in being stalin or lenin then you don’t understand the modern left… it’s a lot more “conquest of bread” than “state and revolution” these days!!
Question Author
"a justified go at Israel"...wasnt that the same words Hitler and Stalin used to persecute the Jews.
no they weren’t
Question Author
...and anti-semitism,untitled.Only after the hard left get over their hatred of the Jewish diaspora i cant ever see any other government in Britain other than the Tories.Starmer is doing his best, however the taint off Corbyn and his mob wont go away overnight.
ah so this thread isn’t about Stalin at all… you just want to express your hatred of corbyn by drawing some kind of spurious likeness between them

apologies, carry on…
