Can anyone recommend a good book on the origins and meanings of Nursery Rhymes? I know some of them but want to know more.

If you enter "nursery rhymes"+origin into your search-engine, you will be offered about 3,000 others. If it has to be a BOOK, I'm sure your local library or W H Smith's would be happy to offer recommendations.

Try 'From the Beast to the Blonde;On Fairy Tales and their Tellers' by Marina Warner (Vintage). It is mostly about fairy tales and their origins, but there may be a few nursery rhymes in there. Also, it's a fun read and it has lots of interesting pictures and artistry. Hope it's a help.xx
