Scheduled service for 3 days only on a heritage line.
Must be a slow news day.
Just 12 trips. These old steam trains are used for the odd journey on occasion. Nice to see, full of nostalgia.

and they aren't out on strike - surely not?
Plans for a premium ticket service involving Jenny Agutter waving her bloomers at passing trains are said to be at an advanced stage.

Filthy dirty things, should be scrapped. no fond memories here.

2017 could be a bumper year for steam. There plans to have the Flying Scotsman run all over the country. I have heard that it be running on the West Somerset Railway, to Minehead.

By the way, I wasn't aware the Carlisle to Settle railway was a Heritage railway ?
I don't think it is Mikey - it runs a normal timetable.

I have never travelled across the Ribblehead Viaduct by train, but I explored the land around it by foot, about 20 years ago. Its quite amazing....you can still see the remains of the small settlement that was built there, to accommodate the workers in the 1870's.
It seems I was wrong. I thought it was closed and reopened. It turns out it was simply saved from planned closure.

Hoppy...part of the line was closed due to a landslip, but as far as I know, there is no current plans to close the line. Its hugely popular in the warmer seasons, not just with train enthusiasts, but walkers as well.

Lets hope its there for another 100 years, at least !

Oops. Government bowed to pressure and declined permission to close.
I gave up trainspotting when I was 11.
BHG, quite possibly......if I can ever find an accurate timetable.....which is proving difficult.
we had the Poppy line in Norfolk cut through the golf course in Cromer..lovely to see
