d) Clear out kitchen cupboards.

I now have several cardboard boxes in the garage waiting to go to the charity shop. In the boxes are :-
a) 1 salad spinner
b) 2 kettles
c) 5 cake tins (assorted)
d) 1 mandolin slicing kit thingy
e) 1 hand held mixer
f) 3 glass casserole dishes with lids
g)6 coffee mugs

Now, if I did Ebay, I could sell them. However, I don't, so off to the charity shop they will go.

Do you need to have a bit of a rummage and a clear out? It makes you feel really good....:-)

My kitchen is strangely echoy tonight.

I need to have a *major* rummage and clear out.
Someday...

Put it on a list, Pasta. Someday.

My kitchen cupboards are a bit sparse. I have pot/knife/plate...etc.. racks on the wall instead of top cupboards and we also have a pantry. I do have a slow cooker that lingers at the back though. I've used it twice.

I had things on tops which I wanted to put away. Slow cooker, cast iron pot, toaster, steamer. Now all neatly stowed away in the space left by the clear out.

Lovely!

I wish I had a pantry.
got rid of another 50 books and half my wardrobe this year (the clothes, not the cupboard). Plus 30 DVDs last week went to our friends' bring-and-buy evening where dinner guests are invited to buy each others' donations, the money going to charity.
I think the pantry was the original kitchen. If I'm right it would have been a tiny kitchen. It's big enough to house a fridge and chest freezer and shelving for food. Pain in the bottom when the light bulb blows though :-)
I have a feeling my slow cooker will be lingering at the back too, Ummmm.

Oh, eth. Don't give up on the slow cooker. Have you done a chicken in it yet?
Question Author
...or brisket...or pork shoulder(pulled)...or Spaggy Bol...or Chilli Con Carne?
No I haven't, and to be honest I can't see me doing any of those things in it. I may have another bash mid week with some sort of chicken bits and curry sauce.
Today I have wrapped all my Christmas presents, all four of them. I have also put the ironing board up. That's enough of that nonsense.
I don`t think there is anything you can cook in a slow cooker that you can`t cook in the oven. I think the only point of them is that they are convenient - you can throw everything in, go out for half a day and come back to a cooked dinner.
Question Author
Eth, have I offended you?

If I have, it was purely unintentional. I love my slow cooker and will continue to cook all sorts of things in it. You obviously don't like the results and I won't try to persuade you further.

Your casserole tonight sounds lovely. I might try that.
I think I'd disagree, sj.
I can't imagine the casserole I did today in the oven turning out the same in the slow cooker.
I'm not saying food isn't cooked but I don't think it's cooked the way we like it.
That was my point eth
No, no Tilly, of course you haven't, why would you think that? Don't be daft :)
It's this b****y slow cooker, I don't think I'm ever going to like the way it cooks food.

I have put my slow cooker away, in the cupboard, but I know I will be using it at least three times this week. For me it's the saving on electricity that's important.
We have a gizmo that tells us how much fuel we are using and the oven, on for two, three hours is a waste of energy. The slow cooker is much more efficient and produces the same results.
I am in need of a major clear out. I have so much out so it's easy to reach without bending, lifting etc... that I feel like things are so cluttered, even though it's not messy. That said, I have so much stuff actually in cupboards and such which needs clearing out.

I have so many videos which I don't think I could even give away these days! They have given us smaller wheelie bins too and only two weekly collections so will have to be a bit creative as I have so little bin space and can't get to the tip as I don't drive.
I'm not bothered about saving fuel, I'm more about cooking food the way we like it, enjoying eating well cooked food is one of life's great pleasures.
We're all different, one mans meat and all that...
On my list today.....making jewellery pouches for Christmas presents....and some glitzy little owls....
Made the pouches but the electrician arrived to replace the light fitting that fell down so the owls are on hold til tomorrow....sewing at night is getting a little difficult......x
OK Tilly, Slow Cooker Queen, how long would you cook 3 lamb shanks in a slow cooker please? It's about time I used the one I got as a present last Christmas.
