Had a very pleasant surprise this morning. I have always felt guilty for using my tumble dryer as I thought it would be expensive. I had smart meters fitted this morning, and have been given a monitor thingy which tells me how much per hour I am using. 8p for my dryer!!!

Sorry hellywelly that I hadn't seen your latest posting until now. I am just having a quick look into AB prior to going off to bed and will try to answer your question. If you are paying 9.797p per kWh, then I would say that's good and at that rate I am thinking perhaps you are on 'dual tariff' (Gas and Electric from EON) Anyway, as it is inconceivable that your dryer...

8p , per what ?

hour
I really want a tumble drier but "he who must be obeyed" says it is too expensive. But he who must be obeyed doesnt realise what a chore it is to get stuff dry during the winter - particularly sheets and towels. So I shall tell him how much it costs.

Can you do a comparison with your TV? lol

Barmaid - showing as 1p. Microwave was 13p, cooker - fan oven - 22p. Kettle 28p. Hope that helps. My dryer is a Blomberg (apparently the same as a Beko) 8kg A++

Hope this helps
Thanks Helly. Works for me. If I dont get a td because it is too expensive, I shan't use the oven again ;)
I haven't pegged washing out for years, always used a tumble dryer and my monthly bill is low. I do use it on economy 7 mostly.
Hot or cold air ?
Barmaid - no tv ?
You really ought to put your foot down

I don't have economy 7.
Old Geezer - hot air (you've got plenty of that ha ha!!).
Bazile - TV is great. Without TV I would never get anything done. He'll sit and watch the grand prix on a Sunday and then goes to sleep which in the meantime means I can get on with stuff. :)

I was just going to use the TV to bolster my argument about the cost.

My washing machine is on its way out, so I think I might get a combined washer/drier. I used one when we were away on holiday and thought it was great being able to stick the wet towels in and get them out dry.
A tumble drier is essential really in the colder months. I don't use mine in Summer, unless I need an item urgently. Dry away helly ;0)
I love the smell of line dried washing Elina. Especially bed sheets. But where do you hang them in the winter?! I only have so much banister space and my radiators are tiny! This is why a TD would be great.

I used to have one in the garage. I suppose I could look at that.
Barmaid //He'll sit and watch the grand prix on a Sunday ..//

Mr Barmaid can't be all that bad then - me being a fellow F1 person .

The only thing with washer/driers is that if it breaks down , the reason for the breakdown usually means you cant use either function
Hi barmaid, I have a 'minky' maiden ... sounds funny! :0)
I've heard that said Bazile.

I had a combo w/d, and eventually hated it. Obviously, if one function is in use the other can't be.
I might go for a separate one then. I had one my mother gave me years ago and loved it. I suppose I could get one and sneak it in the garage and he probably wont notice until about next May. ;)
He'll want to know what that strange noise is , coming from the garage :-)
lol, he wont, Bazile. He has 40% hearing loss and cant hear a thing! (At least this is his excuse for not responding to 95% of what I say........)
