That's why a load of Poms including my Brothers left this rat infested hole Iozzy, OZ is a big place.
Overpopulation has been going on for decades. One can understand a desire to grow after losses in the war but it's been clear for ages we have more than enough individuals here already.

And the Earth as a whole is also overpopulated, but many nations refuse to acknowledge that, or feel they can't/won't do anything about it. It means border security is growing in importance all the time as one can not control one's own population size if folk are always getting in to bust any limits.
Ael for best answer. I've splurted my tea.........!
cowed as well.
The population density in the United Kingdom is 269 per Km2 (697 people per mi2).

The population density in Australia is 3 per Km2 (8 people per mi2).

And people think Aussies are thick ;-)
ozz - does that census include native Australians?
p.s. you can also have back all those who are over here if you feel lonely.
deffo ael for best answer !!

No-one seems to be complaining about those who are leaving this country to set up a life abroad.
IF the UK and being in the EU is so great, why are they leaving? (just curious)
The population density in the United Kingdom is 269 per Km2

I calculate that that means each person has over 3700 square metres. That sounds quite a lot. You can drive through some parts of the UK and not see anyone houses for miles. There is plenty of space but we just don't use it too well, and of course we don't have the infrastructure in terms of hospitals and schools, or even houses to accommodate more people at the moment. With proper planning I'm sure we could accommodate another 20 million in the UK by 2050. If we continue to grow though we will lose our national identity at an even faster rate.

According to More or Less on Radio 4 the world's population could fit on the Isle of Wight, although I think it might put some strain on the schools and hospitals there.

Just to keep you happy with my error.
TWR, at 0825 you use the term 'Pom' which is a derogatory term for an Englishman, and in the same post the UK is a 'Rat Infested Hole'
If you think so little of the rest of us, and our Country why did you stay?
1ozzy, we in Canada are slightly thicker than you lot at 3.9 Km2.
