It means there was no other such palace in the world ('none such'), nothing like it.

Henry VIII decided (in 1538) to build a palace to rival anything Frances I of France had. It cost him �24,000 (a huge amount for the time), took 9 years and he destroyed a village called Cuddington to do it, but when it was finished it was declared that �none-such were as beautiful as this�. It is from this statement that the name Nonsuch comes.
