Many of the Lancashire Parishes from 1538 to around 1837 have been transcribed and fiolmed by the Mormons and are available to view in county, surname, christian name and chronological order of event (baptisms and marriage in the main) on what is know as the IGI, this used to be available in microfiche form but is now more common on the web on the familysearch.org website of the mormon church. searching is simple and with the results presented in order it is a case of eliminating non contenders and working out the familt groups.
Most Parish Registers for Lancashire are deposited at the County Record Office Bow Lane Preston.
Try checking Philimores atlas and index of parish registers to locate specific parishes, available ion most reference libraries.
Wil;s befpore 1858 back to the 1500s were granted by the ecclesiastical courts and the court for Lancashire are north of the ribble Richmond and south of the ribble Chester. the wills are indexed in volumes and copies are also in most good libraries in lancashire. People did not have to be wealthy to leave a will, some people just had clothes and a bed to leave but it was important to get the wil written up and so you will be surprised what you can turn up.
