How much bandwidth does an X-box 360 need to be played on-line?

We have one broadband to our house, when no-one else is using a pc the x-box 360 is ok to play on line, but if anyone else starts downloading anything the xbox is unusable. So, how much band width does a X-box 360 need to be played on line? thanks

I only have a 2MB connection which is about as low as broadband goes. I have no problem playing on Xbox live unless my daughter is using instant messaging and only then it slows down a bit.
