If 2 people with DS consoles want to play against each other on a game do they BOTH have to have the game on their console?

I have played Brain traning againist my mate and we only had one copy. You dont need 2

Certain games will let you do it with one, like BT but your not going to be able to race against a Brazilian on Mario Kart without you both having a copy.

LOL vibra, its for my mum and dad so i dont think they will be casting spells

id tried the BT on mulitplayer when just me and dad had DSs and i couldnt get it to work, but had thought it should.

thats why i was asked here.

it varies from game to game, some you need more than one, but with others, you can do single card multiplayer,

single card examples

sure mario kart and brain traing do work with single card play, as well as others like:

diddy kong racing ds
mario party ds
zelda phantom hourglass
super mario 64 ds
metroid prime hunters ds
bomberman land 2 ds
tetris ds

plus many more

multicard games

pokemon diamond/pearl
custom robo arena
dragon quest monsters joker
animal crossing wild world
mario and sonic at the olympic games
42 all time classics
star fox command

and many more, all on the ds
