PC Games

I'm looking for a suitable PC game to play either online for free or to download for free to test the performance of my new Nvidia 8600GT graphics card. I know it's asking a lot, but is there anything out there to do the job?

I don't know if it's relevant, but the card has 1024mb of memory.

You can get free versions of synthetic benchmarks, such as 3DMark, that run graphics tests on your PC and then give you a "score" which you can use to compare against an old setup, or other people's PCs. However, if you didn't do this before and aren't bothered about other people's computers there's not much point!

Other option is getting a demo for a game. Crysis is a good bet - guaranteed to kill any computer that didn't cost about £1200!

your gfx card is one thing but your cpu and ram of your pc is another. what size and speed are they?

Bioshock is an amazing game. Crysis is not bad. I have an 8600GTS. As the guy said, it depends on your RAM, CPU and Motherboard. Give it a try and post back.
