ds lite voice reconigtion problems.

i had a ds lite brought for me a few years ago. but it won't reconize my voice when it says give voice answers or commands such as with a dog training game. yet it works when my partner plays on it.is there anything i can do?

lol i just got a lincolnshire accent i've tried talking very plainly to it but it don't work.
