Making your own Dips

I enjoy eating dips with lots of different veggies (crudites in France) but I find them an extortionate price for the small amount.. Does anyone have any recipes for making them please? Tesco and Safeway used to do some gorgeous spicy ones which included korma, cajun, lime pickle but have now discontinued them and the ones left on sale are quite mundane and uninspiring.

Put this on Food and Drink but will possibly fit better in this category

Try Kraft Foods website Kraftoods.com. They have lots of party ideas, so dip ideas are there.

hummus is easy if you have a blender.
Drain a tin of chickpeas, keep liquid. garlic to taste, juice of a lemon, salt and pepper, couple tabs olive oil, and same of tahine paste if you have it. whizz it up together, adding small amounts of the liquid until it is the right consistency.

Tsatsiki can be made with plain yogurt, mint and garlic, to your own liking. no blender needed.

Add many things to mayo, yogurt or creme fraiche to make your own dips, a dash of tom. puree, basil and good lod garlic is nice.

experiment.

most dips are mixed with yoghurt or mayonnaise with a sprinkling of herbs. Put any bottled pickle with the above and you have your dips.

hiya

i make my own fiery salsa..

drain 2 tins chopped tinned tomatos
1 finely dice large red onion
slice 3 reds chllis in half and remove seeds then dice chillis
dice 1 red pepper
option of adding extra tobasco/chilli sauce/jerk sauce if you want

stir together over low heat for about 7-10 mins ten leave to cool

warning chillis will absorb into hands and fingers and can cause problems if you touch your eyes or any othger shall we say sensitive parts of the body i wear plastic gloves as can take lots of scrubbing to get off of your skin

enjoy

Thanks for your ideas, I shall try someof them and experiment.

I shall try adding Lime pickle to some yogurt or mayo since that's the one I probably miss most but would like a korma one, too.
