2 parts Ketchup, 2 1 part brown sugar, 1 part vinegar, crushed garlic, chilli powder/flakes/sauce (to taste), black pepper.

Extras that can be added depending on availability and what the sauce is to be used with, soy sauce, star anise, lemon/lime juice, all spice, bourbon, the list is endless........
for something a bit different, try equal parts of ketchup, oil and strongish black coffee.

i do 50 /50 ketchup and oil when i have nothing else, a squirt of lemon juice is nice, also some worcester sauce.

for a peanutty one mix equal parts of peanut butter, smooth or chunky and ketchup, juice of a lemon and spice up with chilli sauce if you like. This one is specially nice with garlic added. Delicious on chicken.
Worcester sauce is also good.
