I received in my change today one of the new Olympic 50p coins, I believe there are 29 of them (if you want to collect) all have a different sport displayed. Mine is Badminton (a shuttlecock)
They are releasing them in batches so the first batch of 9 are out there.
Any one else got one? - What sport is yours and are you going to collect all?

I hope to, to leave to the g/children.

Thats informative Chris, Have you got one yet?

One thing, do you think the bank would object if I asked for say £10 of 50p pieces now & then. Its got to be quicker than waiting for 'em to turn up in one's change.

jem
Any bank will give you 50p pieces for any amount.

Thanks Ian, - I will now start my onslaught on the banks then starting Monday.

What d'ya mean TCL? - there are 29 designs as I already mentioned.

Explain please.

There's twelve other designs been issued over the years commemorating various events plus the "plain" version so that makes forty-two different 50p coins
So, the answer really is 42.
My daughter pointed out to me (and I saw it for myself the other day) that the Paralympic one has what looks like someone falling out of a wheelchair on it. I checked the opinions of several colleagues (who have less sick senses of humour than me) and they all agreed.
That's because of the sport they are playing, Boccia and those who are able to bend forwards to play, can see your point though.

The person on the coin is a lot further out of their chair than that Mamy!
More able to bend or maybe a bad design on coin, have seen the coin.
I think it's just the coin - they never seem to put too much effort into these things. Have you seen the William and Kate coin?

I agree the royal one is dreadful.
