i've just taken delivery of this recipe book after reading on-line about it.
5 people were given 5 different meals to do and timed how long they took. all of them took over an hour to complete and said they were impossible to do in 30 minutes (i've done one myself and have to agree), but all praised the food highly (again, i have to agree). so i decided to buy the book and use it purely as a recipe book. the meals look absolutely delicious and i was wondering if anyone has done any of them?

Not yet but my Mrs has got the book. I think it's the prep that slows you down.
I've tried the chicken pie, took me longer than 30 mins but I wasn't in a rush! It was lovely though
Not for the first time JO has let himself be lead by a gimmick. This book does have some great recipes (some of his best IMO) but he is advocating some odd short cuts to accelerate the cooking time to bring it within the 30min timescale.

I've cooked a couple of the recipes, Jerk Chicken and Haddock chowder, both were good.

thanks for the replies.
quite fancy the jerk chicken one myself, although think i'm going to try moroccan lamb chops with flatbreads, herby couscous and stuffed peppers this week-end. also liked the look of the asian style salmon with noodle broth and beansprout salad.if the book had arrived earlier i could have nipped out and got the ingredients for that one as we're having salmon tonight anyway - doh!
Those peppers sounded great and so simple, would make a great tapas dish.
What's in the peppers?

it's just a jar of small red peppers and some cheese, cheddar or fontina (whatever that is), and into the oven for about 2 minutes. dead easy.
Just cheese, cheddar or fontina are recommended. Put a slice of cheese inside a jarred roasted pepper and place in a hot frying pan for a minute or two until the cheese begins to melt.

ooops, yes, hot pan not oven..
Sounds nice, might try it
