Yes, really !

I'm having a go.

I've got some carrots and onions cooking in a pan next door.

And ... on the terrace ... I've got 4 live lobsters.

The book says to kill them by stabbing them in the back of the head.

Eeuuwww!

I'm wondering whether to boil them instead.

Just going to check on the onions ...

So, this morning I've taken all the meat out of the lobby shells (yuck ... messy!) and the shells are now back in the stock, boiling away.

I made a bit of a muck up of the stock ... I got the quantity of fish stock wrong - forgot to multiply up the recipe!

Had to buy more fish stock this morning, so hopefully okay now.
No pangs of guilt about the poor wee lobsters? Vegetable soup followed by a nut roast would leave you replete and free from guilt.

"Vegetable soup followed by a nut roast ... "

Oh, yum.

lmao, just read your ''naming the lobsters'' post.

When I had sheep butchered I named the freezer bags so I knew which one I was eating, lol
Question Author
LOL, LOL

I suppose you can't butcher sheep on your chopping board !!!

=0/
Not without a struggle, lol

Naah, they go to the local slaughterhouse and come back in pieces in a plastic sack. YUMMM
Question Author
Awwww, shame ... but also ...

... yummy !!!!

LOL
... from bottle-fed orphans to roast dinner ... not cheap, but you know what went into it and where it came from.
I haven't read all 68 posts, but have you still not killed the bloody shell fish?!

(Says she desperately trying to save a bird. However, I DO fish for food.)
Question Author
Yes yes ... the lobsters got croaked a couple of pages back ...

... on Thursday afternoon.

I was a bit creeped out by the fact that the pincers continue to open and close, even when you've cut the lobster completely in half, and chopped the pincers off the body.

It's like something off a zombie movie !!!!!
Phew! I was thinking you had taken 2 days to kill the things!

Lobster is gorgeous though. Tescos are doing small frozen lobsters at £5 a throw at the mo. A steal. Prefer them fresh but not had the oppotunity to go to the fishmongers at the coast lately.

Hope your lobster bisque was a hit!

Any ideas for moorhen?!!!!
*opportunity* even, but I really am shedded.

Question Author
Not tried the bisque yet.

Lined up for tomorrow.

Moorhen ... pluck, roast, carve ... eat ??
Only problem, you'll need another 4 moorhens, lol
*shouts ASBO* 4 more neeeded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not much meat for a lot of plucking though.
I found this one ...

How to cook moorhens.

Put moorhens, carrots, onions, leek, potatoes and other veg, plus a 6 inch rusty nail in a large pot with plenty of stock.

Cook for an hour.

Throw the moorhen away and eat the rusty nail.
lmao Naz, for the first time since Wednesday I have laughed out loud.
<<hugs>>
