Following on from JJ's... err.. follow on...

My friend one said to me, "Never regret the things you do. Only regret the things you don't [didn't] do."

What do you regret not doing with your life?

I regret...

1. Never going on Concorde whilst I had the chance.
2. Not following my dreams of becoming a Doctor.
3. Not travelling the world when I was younger.

My biggest regret is that I started smoking.........

Tell me about it, matey. I quit on 19th Jan this year and resumed the goddamnawful habit at the end of May.
I regret not telling my teachers where to shove it!

My problem is that I actually enjoy smoking, it's not just a habit. I've tried to stop several times but could honestly commit murder without a cigarette....how sad is that!
I regret I didn't travel the world when I was young, I wanted to be an air hostess but I believe you had to have 2 languages I only knew French.
I wanted to go to Art College but being the oldest of four I had to go out to earn money instead.
Now that I am older I feel that I would have like to have done something with perhaps civil engineering, and I've always liked geology. I have done well in what I've done in my jobs though, so I can't complain too much.
I regret getting into so much debt when I was young. Took me over 20 years to pay it off. Won't have a credit card even now.

Craft... I'm the same... I bloody enjoy a glass of wine or other drink with a nice ciggie.

When I quit earlier this year, it suited me to do so. It helped enormously with my breathing and I haven't used an inhaler since. Right now, I don't feel inclined to quit again.

AYG... I don't think you need other languages now, but the problems is, when all's said and done, it's still a very image-conscious business. One should hardly think about entering the profession at the grand old age of 33. :-(
Not buying a big enough saucepan!
Not making another go of things with my ex boyfriend. He begged and pleaded and I said no so he went on a last minute holiday with his friends to clear his head and died a week later. I've always blamed myself for that.
The dreams one has NoM, Air hostessing was a very glam job in the late 50's and 60's. Things look much different nowadays.
When I was 19 or so I wanted to be a model I was 5'5" way too short, they are usually 5'7" - 6'. Then I wanted to be an archaeologist. But that meant university degrees and anyway if I got down now I wouldn't be able to get up without a struggle. Eventually, I chose the safe route and became a Civil Servant.
Yolanda. How sad but you cannot blame yourself for that.

I worked with a Danish archaeologist for a while, AYG.. she taught me some fascinating stuff.

As for the modelling... I was never eligible at my height. However, my mother was hounded in her younger years, twice by guys who wanted her to model for Pretty Polly tights.
I don´t regret anything.

I was a crap father...........don´t regret that.
Crap husband for 80% of out marriage......don´t regret that.
Lousy grandad............don´t regret that.

What is the point of regrets? What is done is done........don´t look back.
Question Author
No one is faultless, Sqad... ergo.. most of us wish we'd at least handled things better.

Can you honestly say you wish you hadn't done certain things differently?
I always found archaeology fascinating.
NoM..I never look back to question that....what is the point.....anguish won´t change anything. If I had it all to do again, then I would almost certainly do the same things.
NoM

<<<Not following my dreams of becoming a Doctor<<<

If you really wanted that so badly, then nothing or nobody would have stopped you.
