My car went for a service today and amazingly, my tyres have managed to gain tread since the last service they did! They also charged me 39 quid for 5 litres of engine oil which apart from the astronomical cost is also pretty amazing as according to the vehicle handbook, the oil capacity is only 4 litres. Is my car magic or do you think they are ripping me off?

I think I will be having an interesting conversation with the servicing dept tomorrow :o).

It's Arnold Sharks Mrs O - I would understand if it was some back street mechanics - this is the last service I am obliged to do at the dealers for my warranty - I only do just over 4000 miles a year so I prefer to take my chances with the little garages who have a reputation to protect.

Never heard of Arnold Sharks......but the name sounds appropriate lol

Mrs O - lol!- it's a common nickname of Arnold Clarks - they are a huge car sale/servicing company up here.

Doc - all it says for oil type is 10w40 - no idea what that means.

Phoned the garage - taking the car back in for them to have a look at later.
