just make a basic white wine or cheese sauce, add the cooked fish, top with mash and grill

herbs and veggies optional
Make a white sauce, add some broccoli if you have it, put the fish and sauce in a pie dish and top with mash, striped nicely with a fork. Bake, eat!

cheers, luckily i made a nice cheesey white sauce yesterday for the first time, as my dad isn't at home at the moment.
I also put in smoked fish , make a white sauce , and top it with mash
and grated cheese . One of my favorite meals .Enjoy ....
You have a good base, cook fish gently in milk and keep milk to make a sauce, put some butter/margarine in a pan add flour and cook the roux out,add the milk from the fish and you will maybe need more milk until the sauce thickens, break up fish into chunks and then put in dish add chopped parsley and peas if liked also some quartered hard boiled eggs, you could add cheese to the sauce, but i would pour over the sauce mixing gently, cool and then cover in mash fork lightly and sprinkle with cheese and breadcrumbs, forgot to say season sauce with salt and pepper too taste bon appetie!
You'll be better off using some smoked haddock as well....chip as chips..!!
I chuck it all in....mussels, cockles, prawns, white fish, salmon, smoked fish, hard boiled eggs, peas, sweetcorn, cheese sauce and top it with mash

Make a roux. 2 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan, melt and then add 2tablespoons of plain white flour, cook for 2 mins. Add fish stock, a dash of wine or vermouth and double cream. Season with salt and pepper and add some dill and parsley. Add the chunks of fish to the white sauce and transfer immediately to an ovenproof dish and top with potato and place in the oven to cook. Voila !
Worth noting, the fish does not need to be precooked. It will cook in the sauce when it is in the oven. Don't make the white sauce too runny as it will thin a little when it is in the oven.
I don't one the other week. Poach some smoked haddock in milk, onions and cloves. Use that milk to make the roux. Dill and parsley are essential :-)
