I feed my dog good dog food (wet) a bit of carrots) and to make it tasty for him I slip in a little tiny bit of chicken. However I have noticed his stools are hard and he is a bit constipated. Would it be that I have not walked him in a while - feel bad about that cos it is so cold.

Yes it could be the lack of exercis. I cannot see any reason not to take him a walk just because of the cold. Wrap up, your dog will be fine, unless he is an elderly short haired breed, then I may think about getting him a coat if he doesnt run around much.
Agree that lack of exercise could be the cause and what was suggested is perfect. But, if your dog is only getting 'wet food' - and by that I'm supposing tinned dog food - perhaps he's not getting enough fibre in his diet. This will cause constipation and lack of bulk can cause anal gland problems too. Why not give your local vet a ring? one of the nurses will surely be happy to give you professional advice. Good luck and keep us updated on progress!
