i tried it the way the girl made it on CDWM and it smelt awful when cooking but tasted ok.

think its definately fine just blending it all cold
I have'nt made any but i can tell you that the best one ive tasted is tesco's Hummus with lemon and coriander! Addictive aint the word!
I use chick peas, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice and tahini as a base then add other ingredients as desired (usually a couple of chillies, wicked)
there's no need to boil tinned chickpeas for houmous! surprised she did that...! houmous is so easy - loads of recipes to try here http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipes/searchresults.aspx?tag=houmous
sometimes I add grated carrot to mine

Carron your first receipe is how my turkish neighbour makes hers
Hi, I use the same method/ingredients as you but also add tahini to get the consistency I like. I used to go to a small restaurant that always made it there and then and it was served warm, so I guess they used a boiled method also. Served with hot strips of brown pitta bread - it was truly scrumptious! Gone now though. My mouth is watering at the memory!

I tried a recipe last week that used Greek yoghurt and it really wasn't good - it made the garlic taste harsh.
